Through whispers to the hearts of mortals, Satan Morroc had a gargantuan tower constructed. Its magical energies, empowered by the collective sacrifices of those who worked on it, allowed Midgard to be linked to Muspelheim, creating a portal for his demons and jotnar to emerge into the realm. When he himself entered Midgard, he was stopped by a lone warrior name Thanatos. Refusing to let a puny mortal stop him, Satan Morroc alone engaged in battle against the warrior and tried to break through his shield. When his shield-breaking magic and Thanatos' shield magic collided, the two of them were teleported to the midst of the Sograt Desert. There, they continued their battle for ten days and nights. On the tenth day, Thanatos finally gained the upper hand and defeated Satan Morroc. He then sealed the jotunn beneath the earth, where he was imprisoned for over a millennium. Thanatos used his life force to seal Satan Morroc and his tower, and left three of his most trusted allies to watch over the site where Satan Morroc was sealed.

Many years passed, and the memory of Thanatos's sacrifice faded from history...

The tower, an ominous shadow over Hugel's otherwise idyllic fields, had crumbled over the centuries. The Rekenber Corporation, seeking to uncover the arcane secrets held by the tower, began reconstruction. One day, a strange flash of lightning, bright enough to be seen in Einbroch, struck the top of the tower. The incident left only a few survivors, all claiming that Demons or Angels attacked them. Despite this tragedy, the Rekenber Corporation refused to give up and doggedly pursued its goals...

Adventurers came to the tower, seeking glory and treasure, paying a fee to the Rekenber Corporation to enter the tower and face the demons and angels. Each of these creatures comprised a fraction of Thanatos's soul, and the power of the seal that held Satan Morroc began to weaken... With the greed of Midgardians weakening the seal, Satan Morroc began to whisper to the dragon Nidhoggur, using her loneliness against her... Gnawing at the roots of Yggdrasil, she allowed Satan Morroc to break free from his prison, laying waste to the city of Morroc. Satan Morroc was confronted by an alliance of assassins and adventurers, and though they were unable to destroy him, they weakened him enough that he bored a hole through dimensions to escape.
