Payon
Though part of the Rune-Midgarts Kingdom, Payon developed its own unique culture and architectural style long ago due to the forests that isolate it from the rest of the world. This culture continues through to the present. Located on the edge of a mountain range, the village is under constant threat from the mysterious magic in the Payon Caves.
Payon has a tradition of archery and martial arts. Those seeking to study either art are welcomed by their teachers. Its primary exports are crafts, fabric, bows and lumber.
The Payon Archers
To the north of Payon is a cave housing the restless spirits of people who died in a massacre long forgotten. A curious explorer foolishly broke the seals placed on this cave by an exorcist whose name has faded from history. The undead that spewed forth from this cave overran Payon until the chief of the village, wielding arrows made of silver, was able to temporarily halt the flow of undead from the cave.
Though many priests and shamans have visited the cave, none have been able to recreate the intricate magics that sealed its dangers. The Archer Association was built near the cave, and gradually this settlement joined with Payon proper to extend the mountainside town. The Archer Association now exists to keep Payon safe not only from undead, but from other threats that lurk within the forest and the hearts of normans.
